Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

Are you a lover of Zoos?  Or do you want to experience America’s only mountain zoo?  This zoo is built on the side of a mountain.  Or do you just love giraffes?  CMZ has the largest giraffe herd in North America.  Or maybe you love wallabies, or grizzlies, or elephants, or eagles, or otters, or . . . Perhaps I should stop before trying to list all the animals at this fabulous zoo.

Disclaimer:  Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is tied with Garden of the Gods as my favorite place in the Springs.  Yes, I LOVE THIS ZOO!

NEWS FLASH!!

On July 6th, 2019, CMZ welcomed a new baby giraffe to the herd.  She doesn't have a name yet but she brings the number of giraffe at this zoo to 16.  Welcome Sweet Girl.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo was voted 6th-Best Zoo in North America by USA Today’s 10Best!  Some of us are convinced that it is #1.  It open every day of the year from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.  Last admission is 4 p.m.   There are special holiday hours that can be found on their website.

Visit Africa, Australia, Asia, and the Rocky Mountains.

In the African Rift Valley meet and feed the giraffes, meerkats, lions, and more.

Disclaimer #2:  Giraffes are my thing - and CMZ is Giraffe Fantasy Land

In Australia, interact with the budgies and the wallabies.

The Asian Highlands takes you past leopards and tigers, oh my.
And the Rocky Mountain Wild presents grizzlies, wolves, mountain lions and more.

This is just the beginning.  Great interactive displays for kids - goats, chickens, etc.

Oh and don’t miss the monkeys and sloths.

You see what I mean?  I didn’t list everything by a long shot.  It’s a wonderful zoo.  And don’t worry about having to hike up and down the mountain - the shuttle is just $2 for all day.

Entrance fee includes the Will Rogers Shrine.

If you're going to visit more than once while you're in the Springs, consider a membership.  It often pays for itself in two visits.
